Bottom Whorl Spindle

Bottom whorl spindle is a tool for spinning yarn by hand. It can be used either supported on a surface or suspended from the yarn being made. The whorl is at the bottom of the spindle shaft. Also called a low whorl spindle. Each spindle is notched on the whorl to guide the leader to the hook. All are one kind of drop spindles individually signed and numbered by Cynthia D. Haney.
